Hi crew! As if this summer wasn’t jam-packed enough, I’ll be going to Robert’s hospital on August 15th for a breast implant swap-out. The great news is that it’s nothing to do with cancer, but the down side, and I’m sure this is no great surprise to anyone over 30, is that surgery suuuuucks.
But there are a few things to enjoy about the post-op period, especially the hours of lying around in bed. Years ago, after a big surgery, I read all of Outlander book one and fully intended to read the whole series. I got about halfway through book two when my painkillers wore off and I realized it was not for me anymore. Likewise, I devoured Crazy Rich Asians in another recovery period, loved it, and haven’t returned to the series since. This could be described as snobbery, though I prefer to think of it as opioid-related expansiveness, you know?
I’m looking for something with romance and humor, or perhaps a little fashion and travel. Since watching Wimbledon last month, I’m intrigued with Kate Middleton, royal fashion, tennis whites, English gardens. I think I subscribed to Country Life early one morning after seeing that Camilla Parker Bowles, I mean the Duchess of Cornwall, guest-edited the most recent issue. Still waiting for that one to fly over the Atlantic to my door!
So far, I’ve gathered a couple of nonfiction picture books about Wimbledon and the US Open as well as The Diana Chronicles by Tina Brown.
What else? What else? Send your suggestions this way, please! Also, what are you reading at the moment? What’s good?
xoxo
Jess
I’m reading A. A. Milne book the Red House Mystery. Not the best murder mystery but a fun read :) and extra bonus are the British country house vibes.
I always go back to Agatha Christie for trips or comfort- very relaxing.
